"She left me on read… now the 808’s crying."

That’s the line I started with when I first opened up the brand-new Text-to-Vocal Generator from Kits AI I wanted to see just how fast I could turn a lyric into a usable vocal for one of my beats, and honestly, I was impressed.

I’ve used plenty of AI vocal tools before, and most either had robotic artifacts or just didn’t feel like something I could drop into a serious production. This was different. The tone felt natural, the timing was tight, and it was ready to work with right away. In the past, if I wanted a custom lyric sung for a beat, I’d have to wait on a session singer, sometimes days, only to get something that still needed heavy tuning. With Kits AI, I went from lyric to clean, mixable vocal in under a minute.

In this post, I’m going to walk you through exactly how I used the tool from start to finish, share some tips for getting the best results, and show you why this has already found a spot in my workflow.

What Is the Kits AI Text-to-Vocal Generator?

The Text-to-Vocal Generator lets you type in your own lyrics (up to 150 characters) and instantly create a professional-sounding vocal performance. You can choose from a full library of voices including male, female, different styles, and genre-specific tones, and tweak them until they fit your track perfectly.

It can also be used as a sample generator, letting you create custom vocal chops, ad-libs, or even experimental one-shots to layer into your productions.

One of the biggest things I love about Kits AI is that every voice is trained on fully licensed data. That means no copyright gray areas, no shady datasets, and no risk of your music being flagged later on. It is ethically sourced AI, and some artists behind voices get paid for every download.

This matters to me because I’ve had songs flagged before over tiny copyright claims, sometimes from samples I didn’t even know were unlicensed in a pack. It’s frustrating to lose momentum on a track because of a takedown or dispute. Knowing that the Kits AI voices are 100% cleared means I can focus on making music without looking over my shoulder, and it also means I’m supporting real vocalists whose work helped build these models.

Setting Up My Vocal Generation

When you open Kits AI and head to the Generate Vocals tab, you will see all your voice options. For this track, I picked a male emo pop voice since that range fit my beat the best.

I chose this voice because I was going for something emotional and gritty, kind of like the blend of pop-punk attitude and trap melodies. The emo pop tone instantly gave the lyric that “broken but catchy” vibe I was hearing in my head, which matched my beat’s dark chords and bouncy 808.

Pro tip: pay attention to the range listed for each voice. Choosing a voice that naturally fits your key will make the output sound better right from the start.

Before generating, I like to set up my parameters:

  • Style: Adjusts the vocal’s natural accent.

  • Vibrato: I set mine to a subtle amount for realism.

  • EQ Profile: Left at “Balanced” so I can mix later in FL Studio.

  • Pitch Correction: Set my key to D# Minor with smoothness turned up.

  • Effects: I keep delay, reverb, and compression off in Kits so I can add them in my DAW.

Generating and Fine-Tuning the Vocal

With my settings ready, I typed in:

She left me on read, now the 808’s crying.

Kits AI generated a few variations, and I picked the one that felt the most natural. What sold me was the way it handled the phrasing. The “808’s crying” part had a little break in the voice that felt emotional and human. That’s something a lot of AI tools miss.

In Studio Mode, I could:

  • Remove or add reverb.

  • Adjust vibrato strength.

  • Change the EQ curve.

  • Apply the changes to all takes at once.

This works whether you are going for a polished lead vocal or just using it as a sample generator to get quick, unique vocal snippets for your beat.

How To Use The Kits AI Vocal Generator

To get started generating vocals, head over to the Vocal Generator page and type in your lyrics. (As a tip, I'd recommend shorter phrases for the most dynamic results over full verses)

Bringing It Into My DAW

Once I had the vocal I liked, I downloaded it and dropped it into FL Studio. From there, I used Newtone for pitch correction, locking it to D# Minor so it sat perfectly in the beat. If you don't have FL Studio, Kit's Pitch Editor is more than capable of getting the job done.

My comping process with AI vocals is basically the same as with a real singer. I’ll stack multiple takes, find the best performances of each phrase, and stitch them together. The difference is, I can generate 10 versions in the time it would take a human to record one, so I get more to choose from.

For this track, I loved the “808’s crying” part so much that I chopped it up and used it as a background vocal hook. That happy accident gave the beat a whole new texture and made it feel more unique.

Advanced Pitch Editing and Voice Conversion

If you want to take it even further, you can use Studio Mode for voice conversion by swapping the voice model while keeping your melody and timing intact. I tried another male voice that was a little cleaner and more pop, and it gave the track a totally different feel, almost like a remix.

There’s also a å where you can move notes around before regenerating the final take. I’ve already started using this to create weird, chopped-up vocal riffs for sample packs. To access this tool, just head over to the advanced settings and click "Change Pitch" to open the window.

Final Thoughts

After a few sessions with the Kits AI Text-to-Vocal Generator, here’s why I’m hooked:

  • The quality is excellent for an instant AI vocal.

  • Works equally well for polished toplines or quick sample generation.

  • Tons of customization without slowing down my workflow.

  • Easy export into my DAW to keep producing.

  • Fully licensed, ethically trained voices with zero copyright headaches.

My favorite way to use it so far is as a creative spark. When I’m stuck on a beat, I can type in a random lyric and see what happens. Sometimes it turns into the hook. Sometimes it’s just a background texture. Either way, it gets me moving again.

AI vocals are only going to get better from here, and tools like this are showing that they’re not just gimmicks. They can actually help producers make better music, faster.

If you want to try it out yourself, head over to Kits AI and start generating or check out the full process in Larry's tutorial.
